Description : A remake of World 1-1 in "Super Mario Bros", made for speedrunning contest on Speed Demos Archive.
Building this level was kinda tricky 'cause the Mario levels are only a long strait line, far too long to make in one strait line in Quake (The area you can build on is not long enough). I decided to devide the map into 2 parts and I made a teleporter which connects them.
Another problem is that you can't jump so high in Quake, so I figured making the ?-blocks (Q-blocks in the map) a little different then they are in Mario. You shoot them from below and they drop items. Another problem is of course that you are free to walk anywhere in Quake, making it possible to walk in different directions then in Mario. I decided to make a little steel bar which seperates your space to walk on from the rest of the landscape.
Oh, and, to make this level I took a few screen shots in the game, and then I printed them, and put them all together on a long piece of paper, did you know that the level itself is 65 cemtimeters long? :)

Known Bugs : Sometimes the walls/ceiling/floors disappear, it seems like Quake can't handle the very big spaces on this map, I've tried to fix it but I couldn't find any way.
Another thing (Not really a bug) is that you can pick up items in the ?-blocks by standing on the ?-block itself.
